I was recently asked by a person on social media that how to feel happiness? he doesn’t feel the level of experience he should be feeling and he is not the only one. We have about 1.13 billion people in the world who are now living under hypertension and hypertension is inversely related to happiness. So, there are more and more people who have a decreased level of happiness over time in life. Some of the common cause of apprehension is a traumatic experience in the past, cut-throat competitive work culture, success race and what not! Since we can not change the whole dynamics of the society, we should learn different ways to catalyze our senses to feel happiness more, even, being around a toxic environment and avoid “Why can’t I feel happiness?” situation.
The following are a few proven ways that you can start implementing in your daily practice and it will drastically increase your happiness level from the first day.
A very easiest way to feel happiness is to acknowledge the positive things of your life daily. Write a couple of good things that happened to you yesterday each morning. Remembering those feeling again can boost your mood and makes you instantly happy.
Follow a healthy regime
I guess this is the hardest part of the list for most of the people including me. Following a healthy regime is not easy but it can certainly help you to boost the feeling of happiness. The right nutrition, the right amount of sleep and exercise would be perfect to make your senses alive again.
It is simple as 1+1 if you want to feel happiness, spread happiness. Appreciate other people’s success, achievements to make them feel happy. Find a reason to make other people laugh. Encourage people in their downtime etc.
This is the quickest way to boost senses. When you spend money on someone and you see a smile on their face, you will feel happier. You do not have to spend a fortune on someone, just a coffee for a poor kid or a middle-aged homeless will work.
Do not hold a grudge
This is something most people need to learn in life that they should not hold a grudge from the past. Whatever happened in the past can stay in the past and there is no need to carry extra baggage with you in the present.
Stop comparing yourself
No! Never! You can not compare yourself with anyone in the world; not even with your sibling or best friend. Everybody has their journey and time of success/ fame/ achievements. If you stop doing this, you will feel happiness more often. Fairly, you should follow step-3 more often and celebrate success.
Invest in yourself
When you wear nice new clothes, you will feel more confident and happy. This is a psychological effect, so, you should start investing in yourself more and more; learn style statements, improve your public speaking skills, start thinking big for success and let people acknowledge this.
Help other people often
This is another psychological effect that when you help other people, you feel satisfied(maybe powerful than other people who don’t help). Essentially, the satisfaction of achieving something, doing something is a form of happiness.
Before we follow any steps that are mentioned above, we should start with ourselves, isn’t it? You should start feeding positivity in your brain every day, every hour of the day. Let your brain know that you are a happy person, you are successful, you are lovable and loved by your closed ones. This will push way your most of the negativity that brings down your happiness level.
